The Lord’s prayer was prayed directly by our Lord Jesus Christ Himself as a for-example-prayer when His disciples asked Him to – Teach us to pray, or in a more modern English – Teach us how to pray. There are several reasons why we pray. You may want to say a birthday prayer for a friend, or it could just be your daily morning prayer, or a new month prayer to commit the new month into the care of God, or you just want to pray a good morning prayer for her or for him.
